In Australia, everyone who lives here votes, with excepting to people in jail for serious crimes. Everyone’s vote counts because the election effects everyone.

Nobody should be excluded from democracy. How free are you really?

I explained that poorly, my bad.  All Australian citizens over 18 years vote, it’s the law.  Exemptions are people of unsound mind or who have been convicted on treason or treachery and have not been pardoned.  Also people serving an imprisonment of 3 years or longer can’t vote at the current election.

People not in the county on election day need to lodge a postal vote.
